The Armory Documentation

The Armory is a mod about finding special wands scattered through the world. It adds new types of chests, new interactive machines, new pickup items and, of course, new wands with specially designed new spells. It also adds hazards such as explosive traps, elemental traps and nuclear bombs. Finally, it adds new mechanics such as ammo consuming. This file is an attempt to document everything this mod adds or modifies in the base game. In order to learn everything this mod has to offer, read this document, entirely.

Installation/Activation
To install it, simply unpack it at Noita/mods directory. To enabled it in-game, go to mods menu, then select it in your load order, then restart the game.

The Armory Settings
You are able to control some aspects of the mechanics added by The Armory. In order to do it, simply click on the Mod Settings menu, available in the initial menu, and the pause/death menu.


Each setting is changed by simply clicking on it, you can customize each setting to your liking.
Compatibility with other mods
This mod includes additional spawning points in the world to allow for chests, machines and traps to spawn without interefering with the vanilla spawning system by editing wang mapping files, and because it relies heavily on these new spawn points it is imcompatible with mods that also edit those files. This means chests, machines and traps may not spawn if you combine The Armory mod with others like that, depending on your load order.

It also modifies two key files from the vanilla game, the base file for enemies to add special pickup drop rewards, and the base file for the player, in order to add new harmful materials to the list of materials that damage the player, therefore combining The Armory mod with any mod that also happen to modify those base files may lead to problems such as enemies not dropping anything or the player being immune to harmful materials added by this mod.

15.0 - General Content Update | 22/03/2021
Fixes and Improvements
- Passive shield trinkets could potentially cause performance issues if many melee weapons were owned by the player at the same time, this has been fixed.
- The loot system has been modified in a way enemies no longer drop pickup items on death, they instead drop a small lootpack, from which you obtain loot like hearts, ammo, portal spawners and utility pickups. The new lootpack container is also indestructible by either materials, projectiles or explosions, and will only reveal its contents when interacted with. This was done to reduce the amount of objects that might spawn at the same time when an enemy is killed.
- A new chest type was added, the rainbow chest, which has always four guaranteed drops, which may vary among regular tiered weapons, boss reward weapons and trinkets. You may find it rarely at the gambling room layout, or as a random chest in the entrance of the mines.
- Shrapnel projectiles released by spells will no longer harm the player, but if they are shot by traps, they will still be deadly (also buffed its speed a bit)

14.0 - Melee Overhaul II | 09/03/2021
Fixes and Improvements
- Melee weapons have gone through balance tweaking and visual overhauling, improving the way they behave mechanically and visually
- GUI elements weren't rendering when loading a saved game, this is now fixed
- Reduced the amount of particles emitted by field-based effects
- Fixed spikeball (ice) weapon not showing ammo type on ammo counters when held
- Overtime damage effects dealt by some enemies had their duration halved

13.0 - Regular Enemies Update | 04/03/2021
Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed general duplication problems related to game initialization
- Portal spawners now will not spawn their respective portals if you throw them inside the room/before you leave it through the green exit portal
- Portal spawners now explode with greater punch, removing fragile materials such as coal, inside which it might be buried, reducing the probability you'll get stuck once you return from the room
- Portal spawners now include a colored particle aura that makes it easy to spot them when they are dropped by enemies
- Reduced spawn chance for portal spawners from 25 to 20%
- Some projectiles included with specific spells such as spears, arrows, crossbow bolts and syringes now stick to enemies they hit
- Exotic tier chest added as a possible chest spawn in the entrance of the mines if the related setting is enabled

12.0 - General Content Update | 24/01/2021
Fixes and Improvements
- [EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE] Room system has been redesigned from the ground up, now no rooms will spawn in the world, instead you'll find, as drops from dead enemies, special portal spawners that create portals to a room that will be configured with all layouts from the previous room system (crafting, chests, gambling, etc) depending on the sort of portal you enter
- The ammo cost of all spells from The Armory has been standardized into 1 per cast
- Throwable weapons, such as grenades, knives and test tubes filled with materials have been converted into wands with corresponding spells, meaning these items are no longer one time use. They will now consume two new ammo types, throwable weapons and throwable explosives ammo
- Throwable test tubes have been unified into a single wand that randomly selects a material that it will release on impact
- Due to the conversion of throwable weapons to wands grenades, special grenades and throwable weapons boxes have been removed, meaning ammo box rooms will now spawn solely ammo boxes and first aid kids
- Material containers and elemental traps have been unified into two single objects that randomly select materials from a pool of many vanilla and custom materials before they spawn
- Weapon Workshop menu has been improved to show the actual name of the weapon, to help describe it better
- Internal spell names have been altered to prevent conflicts with other mods, such as the one happening with the CROWBAR spell, when The Armory is combined with Risk of Items mod
- Some weapons now eject empty bullet casings and magazines as they are fired
- Items such as keys and enemy guts now spawn more often from dead enemies
- A new setting was added, allowing you to spawn a random trinket at the entrance of the Mines

11.0 - Minibosses Overhaul Update | 20/12/2020
Fixes and Improvements
- Minibosses have been overhauled with balancing tweaks and new attack patterns based on distance
- The miniboss beacon now, instead of instantly spawning a miniboss, triggers a portal through which the boss spawns some seconds after you activate it, and also warns you which miniboss is about to appear
- Minibosses can now, with a few exceptions, be stained with materials, and can therefore be inflicted with status effects like regular enemies
- Now each boss has at least two rewards associated with them, that means defeating the same miniboss twice in the same run has a chance of yielding you different rewards
- Proximity mines blue light indicator can now be controlled with a new setting that allows you to turn this feature on or off
- Miniboss rooms were modified in a way their surrounding walls now can't be destroyed by materials, explosions and other things, assuring they will stay intact
- Config file has been converted into the new Mod Settings menu, you can now control all previous settings related to traps, hearts and others using this feature directly from the game menu

10.0 - GUI Overhaul Update | 22/11/2020
Fixes and Improvements
- On-screen counters have been reworked for better usability, ammo counters now show up as small graphic icons, similar to how collected trinkets are shown, and indicators were added to highlight what ammo type and collected trinket is active according to what weapon the player is currently holding.
- Toggle buttons for both counters and trinkets now activate a timer that autohides these menus after a certain period of inactivity.
- Crafting has been severely overhauled, in a way it is now a lot simpler to use and intuitive. It has also been expanded and broken down into three categories: weapon, trinket and ammo. Now, in order to craft an item, you have to collect parts related to that item i.e. weapon parts for weapons, trinket parts for trinkets and ammo parts for ammo, and also posses ingots of specific metals.
- Workshops now trigger a new menu that appears when you get near them, so you no longer need to activate or drop anything on them in order to use them, the new crafting menu now handles everything.
- The furnace now behaves differently: you no longer need to manually deposit ore on it to convert them into ingots, instead you simply have to own ore nuggets in order to smelt them into ingots.
- Ore nuggets and ingots now behave as small pickup items, being collected the moment the player character touches them.
- Gun parts have changed into a single item, weapon crafting parts, a small pickup item that is collected automatically.
- Supply boxes can now spawn crafting parts randomly.
- Crafting and Ore rooms will now always spawn a crowbar or pickaxe next to the workshop or furnace.
- As a consequence of the changes in the crafting system, Edit Wands Everywhere perk is no longer added by default.
- Lightsabers have now the ability to deflect enemy projectiles while their energy blades are active. The energy shield that was previously added when they were equipped is therefore removed.
- Proximity mines now have a blue light indicator which helps spotting them even on unrevealed parts of the map.
- Improved visuals of effects produced by certain weapons.
- Healing heart pickup items will no longer overheal you, this mechanic has been attached to a new trinket instead.
- Ore stones of all types will now spawn up to 5 ore nuggets when mined with a pickaxe.

9.0 - Melee Overhaul Update | 24/10/2020
Fixes and Improvements
- Most melee weapons have been reworked in a way they are a lot less op, and they now behave more realistically according to their type. Lances, polearms and pikes will now perform a stab move, while swords, axes and maces will perform a swing move, and melee spells now have a small cooldown between each attack. The ability to dig with most melee weapons has also been nerfed.
- Fixed a few bugs with on-screen elements related to trinkets.
- Fixed a exploit that could allow infinite gain from donations machines by using healing materials, these machines will now refuse service if you are being healed when interacting with them.
- Fixed a bug that allowed weapons to be modified even though they were tagged as frozen.

7.0 - Trinkets Update | 01/10/2020
Fixes and Improvements
- Weapon models based on real world guns had their models shrinked a little to better fit the proportion of the player character, they are less bulky now
- Most spells, specially those related to weapons inspired by real world weapons, have been rebalanced in order to de-op them and make room for trinket bonuses
- Improved code quality and structure of key-scripts used in the back-end of the mod, facilitating the inclusion of new contents in the future
- Containers that could be openned to spawn items will now only open and reveal their items when interacted with by the player, this is done to avoid having these containers appear off-screen and accidentally spawn their items due to any change not caused by the player
- On-screen text and buttons now disappear entirely when the player dies
- Poisonous hearts no longer kill the player if picked up on very low health, instead, they will simply set your health to 1

6.0 - Minibosses Update | 06/09/2020

- Completely redesigned crafting system to facilitate the inclusion of new recipes and new parts, and to make it easy for recipes to be found in the list by the system
- Completely redesigned the way new objects spawn in the world, with the exception of traps, every new object added by this mod has been moved to one of the four new room types added

Disclaimer
This mod originally made use, in the 1.0 and 2.0 versions, of Selectable Classes by Runi as a framework, but as of 3.0 version I decided not to use it anymore, but the credit is kept, not only because of the framework itself, but also because of the help Runi provided me with while building the first parts of this mod.


Below's a description of the stuff added by the mod.

Mechanics

Tiered weapon system

The Armory features hundreds of different weapons with spells specifically designed for them. Each weapon is found under a tier, and each tier has a chest associated with it. Tier quality raises the more you delve into the world.

Crafting System

This mod features a simplified crafting system that allows you to craft weapons, ammo and trinkets. Each of them has an item related to them that adds parts to your inventory, namely gun, ammo and trinket parts. By combining these parts with ingots of specific metals you are able to craft them using an in-game menu, that shows up once you're close to a workshop.

Ammo Consuming

You start each run with a few unities of ammo of all types. Each ammo type has a counter that shows how many you have, shown at the left side of the screen. Spells from the wands consume the appropriate ammo when cast. The mod will warn you once you run out of a certain ammo type. If there is no appropriate ammo left, the wand will not cast the spell. Enemies have a chance to drop any ammo type, but it can also be found at special containers you're going to find in the world.

Simplified Economy

This mod also adds a very simple economy system, where you can sell or buy things from vending machines scattered through the world.

Justice System

Each time you kill an enemy, there is a chance enemy guts will spawn. By depositing this item on a Justice Machine you are rewarded with additional health, ammo and gold.

Trying your luck

Killing enemies also has a chance to spawn slot machine chips. With this item you are able to interact with Slot Machines to spawn a random tiered chest.

Blood donation machines

You will also find machines that accept health as currency, halving your current health in exchange for ammo, gold or a random weapon of any tier.

Trinkets

While exploring, you might find trinkets, special items that give you different buffs and debuffs when using weapons and spells from this mod. You can have up to four at once, and each trinket can be stacked up to two times maximum. Some trinkets can not be stacked. An on-screen control helps you keep track of what trinkets you have collected, and also allowing you to drop any you have in your possession.

Materials

This mod also adds custom materials that add to the already enourmous library of materials featured in the vanilla game.

Pickup Items

These are items that usually boost your health or provide you with ammo and other utilities. Will usually spawn when openning Lootpacks, which drop from dead enemies, and also from other containers.

Healing pickups:
Small heart. Heals you by 2.

Small overtime heal heart. Heals your overtime..

Powerful Small heart. Heals you by 10.

Poisonous small heart. Removes 10 from your total HP, will not kill you if you're too low on health, but will instead set your health to 1.

Medium heart. Heals you by 12.

Powerful Medium heart. Heals you by 25.

Poisonous medium heart. Removes 25 from your total HP, will not kill you if you're too low on health, but will instead set your health to 1.

Ammo pickups:
Pistol ammo. Adds 10 to your total pistol ammo.

Revolver ammo. Adds 10 to your total revolver ammo.

SMG ammo. Adds 15 to your total smg ammo.

Shotgun ammo. Adds 5 to your total shotgun ammo.

Assault Rifle ammo. Adds 10 to your total assault rifle ammo.

Rifle ammo. Adds 10 to your total rifle ammo.

Firearms ammo pack. Adds a small amount of all firearms ammo types.

Energy Cell. Adds 5 to your total energy cells. Used by energy weapons.

Energy Core. Adds 15 to your total energy cells. Used by energy weapons.

Small Grenade Bundle. Adds 4 to your total grenades ammo. Used by grenade launchers.

Grenade Bundle. Adds 8 to your total grenades ammo. Used by grenade launchers.

Small Fluid Ammo. Adds 10 to your total fluid ammo. Used by fluid guns.

Fluid Ammo. Adds 20 to your total fluid ammo. Used by fluid guns.

Nails. Adds 20 to your total nails ammo. Used by nail shooting guns.

Mininuke. Adds 1 to your total mininukes ammo. Used by mininuke launchers such as the FatMan.

Elemental Bullets Bundle. Adds 20 to your total elemental bullets ammo. Used by guns that shoot elemental bullets.

Metal Sticks Bundle. Adds 15 to your total metal sticks ammo. Used by the Lambda Crossbow.

Knives Bundle. Adds 15 to your total knives ammo. Used by the Knife Thrower.

Shovels Bundle. Adds 15 to your total shovels ammo. Used by shovel launching weapons.

Syringes Bundle. Adds 10 to your total syringes ammo. Used by the syringe shooting weapons.

Rocket Box. Adds 15 to your total rockets ammo. Used by rocket launchers such as the Freedum Launcher.

Trash. Adds 10 to your total trash ammo. Used by the Trash Dumper.

Quiver. Adds 10 to your total arrows ammo. Used by the arrow shooting weapons.

Crossbow Bolts Quiver. Adds 10 to your total crossbow bolts ammo. Used by the bolt shooting weapons.

Spear Bundle. Adds 10 to your total spears ammo. Used by the spear launching weapons.

Small Fuel Tank. Adds 50 to your total fuel ammo. Used by weapons such as handheldsaws and the flamethrower.

Big Fuel Tank. Adds 150 to your total fuel ammo. Used by weapons such as handheldsaws and the flamethrower.

Throwable Weapons Pack. Adds 5 to your total throwable weapons ammo. Used by throwable knives, maces and others.

Throwable Explosives Pack. Adds 5 to your total throwable explosives ammo. Used by fragmentation grenades, c4 and others.

Utility pickups:
Slot machine chip. Used to try your luck with the Slot Machine. Is consumed upon use.

Enemy guts. Can be deposited in a Justice Machine for HP, gold and bullets ammo rewards.

Chest key. Can be used to unlock Exotic tier chests.

Safe key. Can be used to unlock safes.

Miniboss key. Drops only from minibosses, can be used to unlock miniboss chests.

Weapon Crafting Parts. Adds 10 to your total weapon crafting parts count.

Ammo Crafting Parts. Adds 10 to your total ammo crafting parts count.

Trinket Crafting Parts. Adds 10 to your total trinket crafting parts count.

Iron Ore. Obtained by mining Iron Stones. Can be smelted into Iron Ingots using a Furnace.

Copper Ore. Obtained by mining Copper Stones. Can be smelted into Copper Ingots using a Furnace.

Gold Ore. Obtained by mining Gold Stones. Can be smelted into Gold Ingots using a Furnace.

Jade Ore. Obtained by mining Jade Stones. Can be smelted into Jade Ingots using a Furnace.

Amethyst Ore. Obtained by mining Amethyst Stones. Can be smelted into Amethyst Ingots using a Furnace.

Diamond Ore. Obtained by mining Diamond Stones. Can be smelted into Diamond Ingots using a Furnace.

Ruby Ore. Obtained by mining Diamond Stones. Can be smelted into Ruby Ingots using a Furnace.

Purple Fluorite Ore. Obtained by mining Diamond Stones. Can be smelted into Purple Fluorite Ingots using a Furnace.

Iron Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Iron Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Copper Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Copper Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop and ammo at an Ammo Workshop.

Gold Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Gold Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Jade Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Jade Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Amethyst Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Amethyst Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Diamond Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Diamond Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Ruby Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Ruby Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft weapons at a Gun Workshop.

Purple Fluorite Ingot. Obtained by smelting an Purple Fluorite Ore in a Furnace. Used along with crafting parts to craft trinkets at a Trinket Workshop.


Other pickups:
Milk Bottle, a bottle filled with milk, break it to heal with this healthy liquid.
Slime Compound Container, a container filled with slime compound, spawns rarely from elemental slimes.


Chests

A loot system that spawns wands based on tiers. Wands from all tiers, except for the Exotic tier, can be crafted in a gun workshop. Each tier/chest is described below:

  • Pickaxe, a melee weapon that is also capable of mining ores.
  • Crowbar, a melee weapon that can break open supply boxes.
  • Chipote Chillon, the iconic weapon of El Chapulin Colorado.
  • Whip, a melee weapon that deals low damage but reaches farther.


Special tier chest, can spawn the following wands:
  • Double bladed sith Lightsaber.

Rainbow Chest, a rare chest that appears in the Gambling Room layout, or at the entrance of the mines if you decide to turn on the option to spawn a random tiered chest on a new game.

Special Containers

These spawn pickup items, such as ammo packs and hearts, and will sometimes replace tiered chests where they usually spawn:
Firearms Ammo box. Spawns random bullet (pistol, smg, shotgun, rifle and assault rifle) ammo pickups when openned.

Basic Ammo box. Spawns random basic ammo pickups when openned, such as metal sticks, shovels, knives, syringes, trash, nails and arrows.

Special Ammo box. Spawns random special ammo pickups when openned, such as energy cells, energy cores, fluid ammo and elemental bullets ammo.

Explosive Ammo box. Spawns random explosive ammo pickups when openned, such as grenade bundles, rocket boxes and mininukes.

First aid box. Spawns random hearts when openned (can also spawn poisonous hearts), or, more rarely, milk bottles.

Safe. A container that can be unlocked with Safe Keys, dropping six different rewards:
  • 5 slot machine chips
  • 6 big chunks of gold
  • 2 random tiered chests (excluding exotic ones)
  • 2 random wands of any tier including exotic
  • 6 random ammo boxes
  • 3 powerful medium hearts, plus a milk bottle



Breakable Containers

The containers listed here spawn crafting materials when broken using certain tools:
Iron Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one iron ore.

Copper Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one copper ore.

Gold Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one gold ore.

Jade Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one jade ore.

Amethyst Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one amethyst ore.

Diamond Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one diamond ore.

Ruby Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one ruby ore.

Purple Fluorite Stone. Can be mined with a Pickaxe, yielding one purple fluorite ore.

Supply Box. Can be broke open with a Crowbar, yielding random ammo, weapon or trinket crafting parts.


Machines

You will find a variety of machines with different purposes:
Vending machine. Allows you to buy a random wand for 200 gold. Each time you buy something the price goes up. You can also drop unwanted wands on it to earn 100 gold each.

Medical Supplies vending machine. Allows you to buy a random healing item for 200 gold. Can spawn regular and overtime heal hearts, first aid boxes or, more rarely, milk bottles.

Ammo Vending machine. Allows you to buy ammo boxes for 100 gold. Will always spawn a regular bullets ammo box upon purchase, but has a chance to also spawn other ammo boxes as a bonus.

Slot machine. Gives you a random tiered chest for each slot machine chip you put on it.

Justice machine. Allows you to deposit enemy guts you have found on enemy corpses, rewarding you with 10 HP, 10 gold and 10 bullets ammo each.

Blood machine (gold). When interacted with, you give up on half your current HP for 200 gold. Will refuse service if your HP is around 12 to 15 or if you are currently under any healing effect.

Blood machine (ammo). When interacted with, you give up on half your current HP for 100 bullets ammo. Will refuse service if your HP is around 12 to 15 or if you are currently under any healing effect.

Blood machine (gun). When interacted with, you give up on half your current HP for a random wand. Will refuse service if your HP is around 12 to 15 or if you are currently under any healing effect.

Blood machine (keys). When interacted with, you give up on half your current HP for one chest key and one safe key. Will refuse service if your HP is around 12 to 15 or if you are currently under any healing effect.

Health for Gold Machine. When interacted with, you give up on 50% of your total gold for a 50% health bonus based on your current health. Will refuse service if you have less than 50 gold or more than 75% of your health bar is filled.

Health for Ammo Machine. When interacted with, you give up on 50% of all ammo you currently hold that surpasses 10 in their count for 50% health bonus based on your current health. Will refuse service if less than 5 types of ammo have a count superior to 10 or more than 75% of your health bar is filled.

Health for Gun Machine. When interacted with, you give up your currently equipped weapon for 50% health bonus based on your current health. Will refuse service if the currently equipped weapon is not one dropped from chests or minibosses or more than 75% of your health bar is filled.

Health for Keys Machine. When interacted with, you give up on 50% of your chest and safe keys for a 50% health bonus based on your current health. Will refuse service if you have less 2 safe and chest keys or more than 75% of your health bar is filled.

Furnace. Converts collected ore into ingots.

Gun Workshop. Allows you to craft guns using crafting materials such as ingots and weapon parts, get near it to have access to the crafting menu related to weapons.

Ammo Workshop. Allows you to craft ammo using crafting materials such as ingots and ammo parts, get near it to have access to the crafting menu related to ammo.

Trinket Workshop. Allows you to craft trinkets using crafting materials such as ingots and trinket parts, get near it to have access to the crafting menu related to trinkets.


Traps

When exploring the world, you might come across these traps, which are categorized as proximity traps, and non-proximity traps.
Items below are tagged as [clonable] when they can be clonned by the Cloner Device, and as [disarmable] when they can be disarmed with the Trap Disarmer.

Player proximity traps, traps rigged to trigger when the player, and only the player, gets close enough (they might explode if damaged like other explosive objects)

[disarmable] Radioactive waste barrel trap. Mimics the appearance of a regular radioactive waste barrel, but explodes if you get too close.

[disarmable] Oil barrel trap. Mimics the appearance of a regular oil barrel, but explodes if you get too close.

[disarmable] TNT box trap. Mimics the appearance of a regular TNT box, but explodes if you get too close.

Nuclear bomb (leaking). Behaves like its regular version, but also explodes if you get too close.

The traps with proximity triggers will not immediatelly go off on your presence and will only detonate if standing on the ground, so you have a very small window to kick them away before they trigger.

Non-proximity traps, they act like regular explosive objects, but will not explode on the presence of the player or enemies

[clonable] Nuclear bomb. Explodes in a much larger radius than other explosive world objects when triggered and leaves a large toxic sludge puddle once blown off.

[clonable] Gunpowder Keg. Explodes in a larger radius than regular explosive barrels, and releases unstable gunpowder when exploding.

[clonable] Nitroglycerin Barrel. Explodes in a larger radius than regular explosive barrels, and releases unstable nitroglycerin (which reacts violently with air causing small but powerful explosions), when exploding.

[clonable] Acid Barrel. Explodes in a larger radius than regular explosive barrels, and releases acid when exploding.

[clonable] Overheated Acid Barrel. Explodes in a larger radius than regular explosive barrels, and releases overheated acid when exploding.

Minibosses
Special, and tougher, enemies that will offer a greater challenge than regular enemies. Each of them yields you special rewards upon defeat. All of them can take damage from regular sources such as projectiles, damaging materials such as lava or acid and elemental effects such as fire or electricity, but they can not be frozen and instantly killed. They can also be polymorphed, but if you kill them in this state, they will not drop any reward.
